Fishing With JVD

I want to say thanks to Will James at Kaenon for making this opportunity possible. Will called me at the beginning of this month to ask me if I would be interested in fishing with JVD and his co-angler Steven Pineau on lake Okeechobee. It's JVD of course I would! They were in Okeechobee practicing for their first Bassmaster Open of the year. If you don't know who JVD is he's Keven Vandams nephew and he's rocking the bass fishing world.
We met up at Okeetantee boat ramp on the north end of the lake. It was a freezing cold morning. That big cold front had just moved in. Jonathon and Steven were expecting the warm temperatures that Florida is known for. What a disappointment, we had to wear full winter gear. We headed out into the lake and around to the right. Steven was nice enough to let me sit in the passenger seat wile he rode in the middle and took the direct wind right in the face. He actually got down in the floor to try and get out of the wind. We were laughing at the beating he was taking. I offered to give his seat back but he refused. At this point I realized I was in great company. We started fishing around the Indian Prairie Creek area. Decided to go shallow because the temperature was rising. The fishing was tough we ended up having to downsize and fish really slow to get a bite. In the end we caught about seven or eight small ones. We had a great time anyway. Their was an equal balance of joking around and hard fishing. JVD and his friend are great guys. I felt like I was hanging with friends I'd known forever.

JVD and I had a conversation about which Kaenon sunglasses we liked the best and how great the lens are for cutting glare. He likes the Hard Kore's with the lens C12 for cloudier days and the Arlos with G12 lens for bright sunny days. I really like the Beacon frame style with C12 and G12 lens.

Good fishing!
