Fishing with Rick Murphy, Pat Ford, and Norm

We put the boat in at Flamingo in Everglades National Park, both days. What a beautiful place! It was a maze of canals and Islands full of marine life around every corner. There were fish jumping in every direction big and small, birds flying up from all around. We even saw five or six pink flamingos standing on an island. I'd never seen that before, it was quite breathtaking!

What and experience these two days of fishing were I got to fish with great guys who love this sport as much as I. Rick was such a nice guy, he was exactly the guy you see on television.

Now to the actual fishing. 40-60 pound Tarpon are nothing like largemouth bass, man what a fight! We were using mullet and pin fish as bait, drifting them with floats and free lining them. We must have caught at least seven or eight and trust me after one your arms feel it! Those fish are crazy, skyrocketing into the air shaking there heads only a few feet from the boat, "UNBELIEVABLE"! The snook fight wasn't too bad either. We caught two of them on the first day as well. The second day was more a snook and redfish day. My kind of fishing! I was right at home. Accurate casts and proper lure presentation was key. Rick said it was a little slower than usual but we had a great time. I guess we got about eight redfish and four or five snook to the boat.
"Memory's from these days will be lodged in my brain forever".

Going flats fishing with Captain Rick Murphy, (pro salt water fisherman and one of the hosts for the Florida Fishing Report) on Monday and Tuesday. I'm excited! I'll let you know how it goes.

Glades bassin with Linda Robinson and Pat Ford

We had another great day on Tamiami Trail! We didn't catch allot of bass today but, Linda did catch four quality bass in the 4lbs range and about three or four smaller fish. Not bad for such a short day. We just did a few hours in the morning. Linda sets that hook like a pro. I was very impressed with her skills. We were using big plastic worms to try and really focus on the bigger bite. Of course there is always that one big one that gets away. Linda had a very nice bass break off in the pads that would have gone 5lbs plus. Pat took a few photos of Linda and her fish. I'll add a photo later, when I get them. I'm sure they're great since Pat Ford took them.

Glades bassin with Juan Vasquez and family

Juan and his family went out fishing with me at the Holly Land yesterday. We had a wonderful time! The highlight of the day was the giant bass that Matias caught, "Juan's son". His fish was about 5 1/2 lbs! You could tell by the look on his face that that moment was a life changing event that he will never forget. It's wonderful to pass on the love of fishing to others.
